Why is “Joy” seeping out of the Harris Campaign

When Vice President Kamala Harris was nominated as the Democratic nominee to challenge former President Donald Trump, she was embraced as a new generation of leaders, a much younger Democrat alternative to the 82-year-old Joe Biden.

Kamala began her presidential bid running on “joy”, and indeed there was joy. The transfer of power from President Biden to Vice President Harris was a refreshing change for the Democrats, and energized voter bases that previously were not planning on voting in the 2024 election.

But then the reality sank in: Harris is the incumbent. She’s been in the shadows for four years but she has a record. Joe Biden made her the border czar in 2021, and three years later Customs and Border Patrol estimate as many as ten million illegal immigrants are in the country. 

In August 2022, when the Senate was voting on passing the Inflation Reduction Act, Vice President Kamala Harris broke the 50-50 tie and voted in the affirmative to pass the bill. By September, inflation spiked to 6.6%. By October it was 7.7%.

Even now she can’t defend her record. In her first Fox interview with Bret Baier Wednesday, she both told Donald Trump to “take responsibility for what happened in your administration”, while she hypocritically refuses to take responsibility for inflation, the border, the Afghanistan Withdrawal which she called a “success” even after 13 soldiers were confirmed dead. Additionally, her administration lied about the crime rate and the jobs numbers, with crime being higher and jobs being lower than reported. 

Now in 2024, Kamala can’t escape this record, and between her poor job as vice president and even worse media appearances, she has the lowest support from African Americans of a Democrat since John F. Kennedy in 1960, when he won only 62% of the demographic. Democrats do historically well with African Americans, but now the men are running the Republicans and to Trump, polls show. She’s bleeding support with Latinos too. And despite her best efforts at courting white male voters, she’s failing.

She’s also behind in every swing state too. Pollster AtlasIntel, whose prediction of the 2020 popular vote was off by just 0.3%, put out a poll on October 19th that showed Trump over Kamala Harris by almost 3%.

And Kamala further doused her dumpster fire campaign with gasoline at her recent Wisconsin rally. There she had security kick Christian college students out of her rally after they yelled “Jesus is lord” in response to Harris’s stance on abortion. She ruthlessly mocked them and told them they were “at the wrong rally.” Georgia and Arizona, two swing states, are also Bible belt states with a staggering number of Christians. Similarly more than half the populations of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania identify as Christian. Her rally goers responded to the students by allegedly shoving and cursing at them, all while Kamala laughed at her podium.

Harris’s boss Joe Biden is not helping her out. Amid the Hurricane Helene tragedy in Florida, Kamala accused Florida Governor Ron Desantis of not answering her phone calls and playing political games, while Biden praised the Governor’s response to the disaster. And while in Georgia campaigning for the Vice President, Bill Clinton either unintentionally or intentionally hung Harris out to dry for the border disaster. He specified the case of Laken Riley, in which he said that had immigrants been vetted better, “That probably wouldn’t have happened.”

The experts still believe that the election is a coin toss, and maintain that anything can happen in the next 12 days before the election of November 5th.
