Boys soccer just keeps winning
The boys soccer team continued their winning streak with 2 important wins against Danvers and Salem this week. Gloucester is on a 3 game win streak, improving their record to 4-1.
Friday night, they traveled to Danvers to take care of business with a big 3-2 win. Junior Captain Andrew Coelho scored 2 early goals to give Gloucester the lead and Sophomore Geremy Palacios scored the third goal making it his third goal of the season. Junior Captain Maxwell Sperry had a very impressive save in the closing minutes of the game to secure the win.
Tuesday night, Salem came to Newell Stadium where they would face Gloucester for the second time this season. Gloucester had their season opener against Salem, where they won 3-1, but Gloucester showed their dominance in this second match up.
Gloucester had a thrashing 8-0 shutout win, a full team effort on display. Senior Robert Mugabe netted an early hattrick and Senior Captain Owen Hardy got on the score sheet for the first time this season.
Gloucester were dangerous on both wings, with Sophomore Kayky Barbosa on the right being eligible to play for the first time this season, and Captain Coelho on the left. They each scored 2 goals, assisting each other, showing their Brazilian chemistry.
They look to expand their winning streak on Tuesday night (11/3), where they play Swampscott on their Senior Night at 6:00pm.
