Nico Alves - Baseball
Nico Alves is the Student Athlete of the Week for his recent performance in the Fishermen’s recent games.
In his recent start on the mound, the sophomore struck out 12 and allowed one run in a complete game effort.
Coming off of an All-Conference year, Alves is viewed as a leader of the team, even as an underclassman. An integral part of leading duties is coming up big in the clutch, and Alves did just that. In the most recent game, Alves came up to bat in the bottom of the seventh, with a man on second base with two outs, and the game knotted at zero. Nico crushed a walk-off double in the pivotal moment to hand the Fishermen the win.
All this, tied to his tremendous hitting and fielding at third base, Nico earned his spot as the Student Athlete of the Week.
