The girls relay team smashed the 4×50-yard shuttle dash school record this weekend at the Division 4 State Relays.
The meet was successful for the Fishermen, with the team coming home with one school record and many season-best times.
To start the day, the girls 4×50-yard shuttle dash relay (Maddie Goodhue, Samantha Tucker, Maddie Jewell, and Aili Spencer) ran a school record and placed third with 25.98 seconds.
“The meet went okay,” sophomore Maddie Goodhue said. “It was really exciting and awesome to get a new school record.”
The girl’s short medley relay (Spencer, Jewell, Grace Castellucci, and Skye Ciolino) placed 8th with a time of 4:36.70 minutes. The girl’s 4×400 meter (Jewell, Hope Castellucci, G. Castellucci, and Ciolino) ran a team season best of 4:26.22 minutes. The long jump relay (Spencer, Tucker, and Goodhue) placed 3rd with a total of 14.53 meters.
Despite a hard fight, the boys’ team couldn’t get much going with many key athletes missing. The only medalists of the day were the long jump relay placed 7th with a best jump total of 16.95 meters.
The girl’s team finished 9th overall and the boys finished 25th.
The team competes on Thursday at home against Saugus, Swampscott, and Marblehead.
