After a crushing loss in their last game in Swampscott, the Fishermen bounced back with a 33-8 win over the Saugus Sachems on senior night.

After a 5-0 start, any team’s momentum would take a hit after losing to a conference opponent. But Gloucester seems poised to bounce back after blowing out divisional opponent Saugus.

Saugus has certainly struggled to find success in previous years; this year is no different. Saugus came into Newell Stadium with a 1-4 record, with their only win being a one-score triumph over Lynn Vocational.

The Fishermen started the game with the ball after a successful coin flip. A quick drive saw Gloucester take a 7-0 lead off a Jaylen Severino touchdown and extra point. Subsequently, the Fishermen would efficiently stop Saugus in three downs and force a turnover to add another score, this time by Joseph Allen

While Gloucester’s run game has been reliable all year without question, the Fishermen also put up progressive yards through the air. Camryn Rodolosi completed five of seven passes for 87 yards, with Gavin Bren catching a 33-yard pass on the Fishermen’s third drive of the night and Cameron Olsen snagging one for 19 yards later in the game.

The highlight of the Fishermen’s senior night would easily be a touchdown early in the second quarter by senior Sean Frontiero to put the Fishermen ahead by 3 scores.

Additionally, seniors Thomas Cribbs and Joseph Allen would both find green grass later in the game for scores.

The Sachems would not go totally silent, and would find the endzone late in the fourth quarter on the legs of Chris Mazin and a 2-point conversion by Pablo DeJesus. However, they failed to cut the game close as the Fishermen would walk away with their sixth win and a successful senior night.

The Fishermen have their conference bye week this week, but will play in Winthrop for their final regular-season game on Halloween.
