In her first outing, she struck out five. In her second, she struck out eleven. In her third, she struck out nine in just three innings. In her fourth outing, she struck out twelve. Freshman Abby Noble is on a roll.
The Gloucester Fishermen beat longtime rival Danvers on Wednesday, led by Noble’s dominance on the rubber. The first-year starter rang up 12 Falcons at the plate, allowing just 4 hits across the seven-inning frame.
The Falcons’ only run came in the first inning as an error on a throw to the pitcher. After that mistake, it was all Gloucester’s game. The lineup collected 8 hits and 4 runs.
Gloucester’s first run manifested in the third after an Emma Carrapichosa single scored Captain Ava Paone. Two more runs were added to the board after Tasara Frontiero singled and Carrapichosa doubled.
Gloucester scored their final run in the bottom of the 6th. After an Aleena Brown double, Mackayla Allen doubled to center to score Adriana Orlando (pinch runner for Brown).
After two straight NEC wins, the Fishermen are tied for first alongside Marblehead and Beverly. Their season record is 4-0, one of their best starts of the past few years. The team takes on NEC opponent Saugus on Friday at 4:30.
